Arthroscopic Excision of Bucket Handle Meniscal Tears Using the Kirshner Wire

Abstract
|
|
|
The excision of a bucket handle tear of the meniscus is greatly facilitated by applying traction to the fragment as the posterior horn attachment is severed.
A technique is described in which a 0.062 inch diameter of Kirshner wire is used as a cuttrument to aid in excision of a bucket handle meniscal tear as a single fragment through the two standard anterior arthroscopy portals, eliminating the technical difficulties and morbidity associated with introducing instruments through additional portals.
